The Copa Libertadores 1989 final was the 30th edition of the tournament and was contested by Olimpia of Paraguay and Atlético Nacional of Colombia. The first leg took place on 5 July 1989 at the Estadio Defensores del Chaco in Asunción, Paraguay, and the second leg was played on 19 July 1989 at the Estadio Atanasio Girardot in Medellín, Colombia.

In the first leg, Olimpia took a 1-0 lead through a goal from their striker Adriano Samaniego in the 63rd minute. The second leg saw Atlético Nacional come out strong and they took a 2-0 lead with goals from John Jairo Tréllez and Alexis García in the 22nd and 44th minutes respectively.

However, Olimpia fought back and scored two goals in the second half through midfielder Julio César Romero and defender Delio Toledo to level the scores at 2-2. The match then went into extra time, and Olimpia scored the winning goal through Jorge Luis Burruchaga in the 111th minute, securing a 3-2 victory on aggregate.

This was Olimpia's second Copa Libertadores title, having previously won it in 1979, and they would go on to win it again in 1990.
